Mark Emmert leaves the NCAA post by June 2023

INDIANAPOLIS — NCAA President Mark Emmert is stepping down after 12 years in office.
NCAA Board of Governors Chairman John DeGioia announced the move Tuesday, saying it was amicable. Emmert will continue in his role until a new President is elected and in office, or until June 30, 2023.
“Throughout my tenure, I have emphasized the need to focus on student-athlete experience and priorities,” Emmert said in an NCAA press release. “I am very proud of the work of the association over the past 12 years, and I am particularly pleased with the hard work and dedication of the staff at the national office here in Indianapolis.”
Emmert, former university president, was appointed to the post in April 2010
