PHOENIX (AP) – Authorities have identified a man who jumped out of the cabin door of a jet plane onto the runway as the plane was approaching a gate at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Phoenix police said Daniel Ramirez, 30, was sent to jail Saturday night on suspicion of two felony trespassing counts.
Ramirez’s family said he was in Colorado doing tile work, but wanted to return home out of fear for his life.
They also told Phoenix TV station ABC 15 that Ramirez may have suffered from schizophrenia based on their family history.
Ramirez was a passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight arriving from Colorado Springs on Saturday morning when authorities said he opened a rear room door, jumped out and ran to an airport fire station where he fenced himself.
