United’s dwindling hopes of finishing in the top four depend largely on the next set of results and today is no exception.

United are seventh and seven points behind fourth-placed Spurs, who are currently in action against Brighton.

After losing to relegation-threatened Everton last week, the Red Devils meet rock-bottom Norwich at Old Trafford today, with fans openly revolting.

They plan protests against the performances and the owners.

And interim boss Rangnick admits some of his players are suffering.

He said: “It could be with one or two or three of our players.

“It seems like expectations are high and some players seem to be struggling with their own performance.

“But again, there are no alibis and no excuses. We have to be willing to deal with it and deal with it.

“I’m sure they are fully aware of that and I’m confident and very positive that all the players know about it. It’s a test of character and mentality.”
