Man Utd turned down Thiago transfer because David Moyes didn’t know enough about him and instead signed Fellaini

MANCHESTER UNITED came close to signing Bayern Munich star Thiago in 2013 but David Moyes vetoed the move.
Instead, the Scot signed Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini on the deadline.
Thiago eventually joined Bayern, where he has since won seven Bundesliga titles and one Champions League.
Whereas Fellaini brought home just one FA Cup, one League Cup and one Europa League title United.
According to Sir Alex Ferguson, he had agreed a £17million deal to sign Thiago from Barcelona ahead of his retirement ESPN.

But as soon as he left Old Trafford, the decision fell on his successor – and now west ham Manager – Moyes.
Thiago is said to have been keen to leave the Nou Camp to play football in the first team.
but moyes is said to have called off the move because he didn’t know enough about the Spain international.
The Scot had been told by United bosses they were planning a mega move this summer – mentioning Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And subsequently he was reluctant to give the green light to the Thiago deal.
United reportedly tried to sign Thiago’s Barca teammate Cesc Fabregas instead but that move also fell through.
After missing several goals, Moyes was forced to raid his old club and sign Fellaini on the last day of the summer transfer window.
Thiago made a belated move to the Premier League The move to Liverpool in a £25m deal in 2020.
