Man, 25, was stabbed to death in Bolton before the man, 41, was critically injured in a knife attack less than a mile away

DETECTIVES has opened a murder investigation after a man was killed in a double stabbing.
Officers flocked to Battenberg Street, in Bolton, Lancs, last night to report a stabbing.
Emergency services rushed a 25-year-old man to hospital but she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Police were then called to a second stabbing on Lincoln Road, less than a mile from the first.
A man, 41, was found seriously injured but in stable condition, with officers arresting him on suspicion of murder.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they are involved in two stabbings, and have also arrested two others in connection with the incidents.
A 27-eyed man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the Lincoln Road crash.
A 21-year-old woman was also arrested and both are in police custody.
Both incidents are believed to be related and investigations are still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Clegg, of GMP’s Major Incidents Team, said: “This is a tragic incident where a young man has tragically lost his life. We think we are with the family. and his friends at this extremely difficult time.
“Staff remain at both the scene and the slings in place while we continue to investigate and put together what happened yesterday.
