Magnolia ISD School Board votes to reverse hair policy and move to gender neutral dress code

This week, the Magnolia ISD school board voted to reverse the policy requiring boys to have short hair and choose to switch to a gender-neutral dress code.

This comes after the district stopped enforcing its dress code policy in November.
Backlash has occurred since October when groups accused the school district of discrimination. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also sued Magnolia ISD in October on behalf of six male students and one non-binary student.

In the lawsuit, the ACLU says its policy of discriminating against students is based on gender.
ABC13 has reached out to Magnolia ISD for notice and is awaiting a response from the district.
