‘Love Island’ star ‘slut-shamed’ for crop top in flight

Baggage check-in. Queue for security. Unpacking suitcases in front of complete strangers.

By the time we actually make it to the gate of our flight, we feel more in need of a vacation than ever. Right?

Amidst all the chaos of travel, our favorite pleasure (apart from settling down at the airport bar at 6am) is wearing our comfortable clothes on the go.

As Amelia Marni boarded her flight to Bali earlier this week, the former Love Island Australia star didn’t think twice about the black jersey crop top and khaki cargo pants she was wearing.

However, as she boarded the plane, the social media star was informed that her outfit violated the airline’s dress code.

Amelia described being “slut shamed”: “A male flight attendant just told me to cover up and my clothing was too revealing.

“I can’t wear this and it’s inappropriate to wear it on JetStar. NEVER heard of it.”

Sharing a photo of herself in her seat, she joked, “Babe, crop tops are my BRANDDDDD xoxoxo.”

After the incident, Amelia then tried to look up her policies online and was only able to find one rule about “indecent clothing”.

It read: “Please do not wear clothing or carry personal items that display words, images, symbols or slogans that can reasonably be considered offensive.”

Since her outfit clearly didn’t fall within that range, Amelia said sarcastically, “We love a man who abuses his authority.”

After sharing the awkward incident with her 340,000 Instagram followers, one replied, “I used to work for Jetstar and they literally don’t back down — what you wear.”

Amelia slammed the airline for shaming them.

“Actually, I’m so embarrassed,” Amelia said. “He was so mean.”

In another Instagram Story, the social media star said the man came over again when she was uncovering her crop top.

Amelia reached out to a flight attendant and claimed she said, “Wait, isn’t that allowed? I only show the tiniest bit of belly.”

The wife then told her colleague that Amelia’s outfit was “okay” and the man then dropped it.

A Jetstar spokesman told 9Honey: “While we have basic dress codes (e.g. shoes) on our flights, we don’t have any policies regarding crop tops.

“Our team will be reaching out to Amelia and our crew member to understand what happened and we apologize if there has been any misunderstanding of our policy.”
