Love Island 2022: ITV producers are still looking for new villa

ITV director Kevin Lygo has confirmed that the programme’s producers are continuing their search for a new villa for the upcoming season of island of love.

The popular British reality dating show brings a group of singles together in a luxury mansion, then presents them with a series of challenges as they try to find love and make it to the finale.

The winning couple will be chosen by the audience.

Previous seasons of the show were filmed on a property near Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in the east of the Spanish island.

However, the location is reportedly unavailable for the upcoming season, forcing show bosses to start looking for a new mansion.

In a briefing, Lygo addressed the ongoing search, commenting: “We didn’t own it, we rented it and we’re selecting a new house for this summer, it’s all confidential. It will be wonderful.”

When asked if the show would stay in its long-term home in the Balearic Islands, he replied: “Yes, it will be held in Mallorca. It’s going to be great (series).”

Liam Reardon won last year’s summer season

island of love is currently hosted by Laura Whitmore.

The show returned to Mallorca last year after a summer break due to the pandemic, with Liam Reardon and Millie Court named as the series’ winners.
