Love Island 2022: Entrants will be ranked from least likely to most likely to win

blank

Buckle up and gird up your loins… island of love season is finally here.

Yes, it’s been a full year since we saw Liam Reardon and Millie Court walk away as series seven champions with £50,000 and a plethora of future brand partnerships between them.

The show returns to our screens on Monday (June 6), where we’ll meet the new islanders moving into the mansion.

It’s hard to say who will do well with this original 11 from the promotional material alone, but I did well based on my extensive knowledge of the show… and not much else.

Inevitably, we can check again in eight weeks to find that I was completely wrong.

With that said, here are this year’s first Islanders, ranked by how long I think they’ll be staying at the villa.

11. Davide

Davide is the villa’s resident “Italian Stallion”

(ITV)

Someone has to be last on that list and unfortunately this year it’s Davide. Mainly because he doesn’t reveal much. Originally from Rome, he lives in Manchester, where English ladies seem to be “crazy” about his Italian charm. I totally believe it, but it’s hard to know how that charm will translate to the villa. Also, Davide calls himself an “Italian stud,” a title fans who have been there from the start (congratulations/I’m so sorry) will always associate with season one’s bizarre Alberti twins, John and Tony who also used the nickname. The chances of Davide living up to her legacy seem unlikely.

10. Kenna

Ikenna knows what he wants in a woman

(ITV)

God, Ikenna isn’t holding back in his opening video, is he? In the first few seconds alone we get to know the big things. For him, the most important thing about a girl is her “bunds” (or her butt if you’re not downstairs with the kids). He then compares women to cars, explaining that the “high-end women” are Bentleys and Lamborginis, while the not-so-high-end women are Fords or Corsas – “they get you from A to B, but it’s not high end”. Charming. Obviously he could totally surprise us at the villa but the top comment below his twitter video is someone saying they are “deffo voted him out” – it’s not looking good.

9. Amber

Amber describes herself as “funny” and “headstrong”

(ITV)

Amber works full-time as a nanny and says she’s basically a mom Monday through Friday. It’s the weekends when she lets off steam and shows her side of the “wild child”. Furthermore, we don’t get too much sense of her personality so far. She likes Girl Code, which is good, but will obviously put herself first when it comes to dating. Nice enough, although it feels a bit like a bot writing dialogue for an AI islander. We hope she stays at the mansion long enough to show the real you.

8. Andrew

Andrew splits his time between Guernsey and Dubai

(ITV)

I’ve always found it a little repressive when the new generation of Islanders was announced and fans immediately compared them to previous candidates. In Andrew’s case, it’s basically pointless because he looks like every white man walking around the mansion beat up. Andrew ‘lives the high life’ as a real estate agent in Dubai, having had what I assume was a very similar experience growing up in Guernsey. He claims he was once banned from a building for meeting up with a client during a viewing, suggesting his life is a little bit more Sell sunset as Stath rents apartments. “To be honest, I can’t imagine losing,” he says. Oh to be so confident.

7. Gemma

Gemma is the daughter of footballer Michael Owen

(ITV)

There is a tradition that celebrities’ friends and relatives are doing well island of love – Dani Dyer is obviously the gold standard here. It’s hard to say if Gemma will follow in her footsteps as her father, footballer Michael Owen, doesn’t quite have the same “national treasure” status as Danny Sr. The 19-year-old also says she doesn’t want that be known as his daughter anyway, and rather as a performance-oriented dressage rider. Not exactly the job that best describes herself, although she makes it sound funnier by describing it as “dancing on horses.” Gemma says she’s an “alpha female” looking for her own alpha male and, bizarrely, her number ones are men who wear socks with sneakers. Um, sure.

6. Liam

Liam seems cute and funny

(ITV)

In his promotional video, Liam comes across as a lovable sweetheart. He says he falls in love about twice a week and shares his honest shock that raisins and grapes are the same thing and makes me wonder what the producers charged to get him to say that. Other nice comments include: “I thought Elton John was two guys for 20 years. I just thought it was Elt and John.” Seems gentle enough. Be warned though. Speaking to ITV, Liam said he likes to compliment women by saying they have “piercing” eyes or “beautiful feet”. Alarm, alarm: another Jake may be entering the mansion. The nation can handle a lot, but we draw the line at our feet, boys.

5. Tasha

Tasha was unlucky in love but hopes things will change at the mansion

(ITV)

On paper, Tasha has everything it takes to win island of love She’s in that sweet spot — the perfect mix of genuinely “inspirational” (she’s the first deaf island of love candidate and has a cochlear implant) and self-deprecating (refers to her dating life as “a mess”). She’s looking for someone who will love her for who she is, which is nice, but says she has trouble extending a relationship beyond five months. Still, I have high hopes that Tasha will be great fun AND educate some viewers along the way.

4. Damie

Dublin boy Dami says his Irish charm will win over the ladies

(ITV)

Dublin boy Dami’s chances of staying around seem good. He’s got facial piercings (cool), likes zodiacs (cool, depending on who you ask), and has an Irish accent (popular). “It always works 99.9 percent of the time,” he says. “The .9 percent is when she has a man.” I’m not entirely sure of the logic, but I’m here for it.

3. India

Waitress Indiyah has a healthy take on dating — while bringing the drama along with it

(ITV)

From the moment Indiyah first described herself as “stubborn” and “melodramatic,” it was clear this girl was going to be great on TV. She’s used to dating a few guys at once (a “rotation,” if you will), but her attitude towards dating seems really healthy. In her own words, she is not a “beggar”. “If I feel like you’re dating someone else or someone else thinks they have a chance, you can fuck off! I have a feeling if you’re not just about me then forget it,” she said. Words we could all live with.

2. Paige

Paige Thorne is the self-proclaimed “mother” among her friends

(ITV)

Every group, island of love or otherwise, the group needs mom. Paige, it seems, is that character — and that’s an archetype that always does well on the show. Yes, listening to her enjoy taking care of her friends by “putting her work clothes on the radiator in the morning to keep her warm, baking cookies on the weekends, preparing meals for her” made me slightly uneasy sick. But it’s the friendships I’m really looking forward to with the other girls that will probably take them far in this competition. one thing though. Like Gemma, Paige says it’s a big ick to see a man’s socks over his shoes. is that a thing What’s happening?

1. Luke

Could Luca be this year’s champion?

(ITV)

Fishmonger Luca has to come first. There are many reasons for that. First and foremost, being a fishmonger is an objectively fun job, brimming with comic potential for Iain Stirling and the inevitable fish-themed challenges. In his promo video alone, Luca describes himself as “so fish-ticated” and lets the team dress him up in a fish-print shirt, so kudos to him for that. Overall, he seems like a man who will excel on this show. His bizarre array of tattoos is sure to be well-received by the ladies of the mansion, while the admission that he’s not the “iron-pumping” type makes him seem likeable — even if he has the whitest, straightest teeth I’ve ever seen . These alone could decide the whole thing for him.
