A Long Island man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple sexual assault charges, the Suffolk District Attorney said Monday.
Ray Guaman was caught in November and accused of posing as a rideshare, sexually assaulting at least one passenger and assaulting two other women in their Long Island homes.
“Time and time again, this defendant has preyed on young women who were simply looking for a safe trip home after a night out,” said Suffolk County Attorney Raymond Tierney.
“Now, thanks to the great work of the prosecution team, he has been held accountable for his actions and will spend the next 25 years in prison, unable to exploit vulnerable victims.”
Guaman was first caught on video trying to break into a home in Brightwaters. In a subsequent interview with police, prosecutors said he admitted entering the home and sexually assaulting a woman she was sleeping inside.
Guaman then gave investigators permission to search his phone, where they found images and video of Guaman involved in sexual acts involving unconscious women back in 2015.
He pleaded guilty to sexual assault, burglary and illegal surveillance in June.
The Suffolk County Attorney’s Office confirmed Monday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Guaman, who is illegally in the country.
