Long Island rescue teams extricate horse from pool

That distress call really was a horse of a different color.
First responders in Suffolk County, Long Island, responded to an 911 call Sunday morning from a horse trapped in the pool in the backyard of a Bohemia apartment building, police said in a statement on Facebook.
Penny, a 3-year-old black mare, was stuck in the deep end of an underground pool at her owner’s home and caught in the pool cover, police officers said.
With the help of officers from the Bohemia Fire Department and Emergency Service Section, they managed to free the horse and lead it out through the shallow end of the pool.
After the rescue, smiling responders posed for a photo with Penny in front of her barn.
