Lizzo clarifies the “About Damn Time” TikTok trend

Music queen Lizzo has jokingly attacked TikTokers who are wrongly tackling the TikTok trend set to her hit “About Damn Time.” She took matters into her own hands and decided to show her co-creators how to do it.

In addition to being a multi-talented musician and an all-around superstar, Lizzo has also proven to be the queen of TikTok.

Fans couldn’t get enough of her hilarious reaction to rumors that she was pregnant with Chris Evans’ baby. She then expanded her collection of tracks by becoming a trendsetter when a dance set to her hit “About Damn Time” swept across the platform.

However, as the trend filtered through the various creators and their replicas, some of the original traits have been lost in translation. As a result, Lizzo took it upon herself to set the record straight and provide a tutorial on how to get the dance right.

Lizzo gives dance tutorial for “About Damn Time”.

In a TikTok uploaded on May 12, Lizzo said she was “tired” of seeing fans misperform the signature dance to “About Damn Time.” Dressed in comfortable attire, she took center stage in the middle of her home, showing fans the right routine.

According to the star, “It’s not ‘About Damn Time’ with gentle smacks, it’s ‘About Damn Time’ with big, heavy pats. The lyrics “Need a sentimental man or woman” then require the dancers to face the camera while making a “V” formation instead of standing to the side.

She also ridiculed creators who performed the dance, who don’t show much enthusiasm for the “pump me up” movement. Instead, she showed fans how it’s really done, rocking her body back and forth and patting her chest.

Lizzo then revealed how particularly frustrated she is with TikTokers moving the “Balenci-ussies” the wrong way: “You don’t do the Balenci-ussies where the Balenci-ussies are.”

Flapping her hands in front of the camera, mimicking TikToker who mistakenly performed the no-hip-butt move, she yelled, “What the hell is that? What the hell is that?”

Lizzo is one of the most popular musicians on TikTok. However, she could be on her way to facing stiff competition from Louis Theroux.
