Liz, who was engaged to Shane for three years, is devastated that she cannot be there in time to say her goodbyes in person.

She also admitted that it hasn’t even “occurred” that Shane died.

Taking to Instagram, the grieving Liz wrote: “My heart aches not being able to be in Australia for Shane’s funeral tomorrow. I was shooting last night and can’t physically get there due to the time warp.

“These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement – we all had our children with us and it was the happiest of times.”

Liz added: “It still hasn’t really become clear that he’s gone.

“It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have a Lion hug again, but our memories will live forever.”

The star captioned her emotional tribute: “RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna.”

CLOSE CONNECTION

Shane died earlier this month aged 52 of a suspected heart attack at a Thai resort.

The cricket ace has received a spate of tributes since his death and his family welcomed some of his former team-mates and media colleagues for Sunday’s private funeral.

It was originally expected that Elizabeth – who had a close relationship with Shane despite their split in 2013 – would attend.

After his death, she even reached out to his two daughters with an emotional message.

Liz assured Brooke, 24, and Summer, 20, that “Daddy loved them.”

A state funeral for Shane will be held on March 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

The massive arena, site of Warnie’s legendary 700th Test wicket, will seat 50,000 fans and celebrities.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison will also attend the service.
