Line Of Duty stars raise hopes for Series 7 as Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar reunite with Jed Mercurio

The standout stars of LINE Of Duty have sparked proposals for a seventh series after a mini-reunion with the show’s creator.
Actress Vicky McClure, 38, who played DI Kate Fleming, has uploaded an extremely exciting snap showing her posing with Line Of Duty co-stars Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compson.

But the presence of show creator Jed Mercurio, 56, on the right side of the shot – as well as the telling caption of newly blonde Vicky – really got fans talking.
The BBC One star wrote on her snap: “Getting back together for a very special charity @ardgowan_hospice.
“Thank you to everyone who came tonight!
In a line that got loyal show fans talking, she added, “Big thanks to @gordonsmart for hosting the evening and trying your best to ask Jed about Series 7…”

The fact that she openly raised the prospect of a “Series 7” without smoke and mirrors or any intrigue made fans think it would be a dead certificate.
One quickly wrote: “C’mon Series 7 ☺️” while another questioned: “Series 7 ? 🙌x”
Another then surmised: “So…season 7 then? 😬❤️.”
One show fan commented, “It’s amazing to see you all back together!”, as one concluded, “So there’s going to be a Series 7? 😂.”
LAST SCENE?
Previously, Martin, who plays DI Steve Arnott, said the cast hadn’t been told the drama would return.
It came after the show’s creator, Jed, warned, “We’re in a situation where it’s not entirely clear that there’s going to be a seventh series.”
Martin told the Shrine Of Duty podcast ahead of the Season 6 finale, “It’s different elements this year because we have to look at it in that way, do people want us back? You don’t want to overdo it.
“After ten years you start thinking about the legacy and if it goes down that well it could be the perfect ending.
“But then we could go a few more months and … what I’m going to say, we’re not going to do just to do it.
We do not know it [if there will be another series]. This is nothing new. Jed will only do it if there’s a story to tell.”
He added: “Jed always takes his time after a show, like a few months.
“There are a lot of things that are above my pay grade, like analytics and viewership. He takes the emotions out and looks at it all.”
H REVEAL
In the meantime, many fans will be interested in returning, after some were less than impressed with how season six went.
Turns out there wasn’t a big conspiracy to control the police – there was just one overpromoted, undertalented and incredibly greedy man – Ian Buckells.
He used his police knowledge and shady connections to round up all the other corrupt officers – and made millions doing it.
While living with his family in his normal semi-detached house, Buckells was a bumbling detective inspector.
But when he appeared as H, he lived in a £3million mansion – and ordered hits on his enemies.

His cover was so secure that even the officers he controlled didn’t know who he was – which is why Jo Davidson framed him.
Hastings, Kate and Steve were appalled that H had been under their noses the whole time – hiding his massive corruption under his own bungling.
