The subject: Russia’s bombing of a maternity and children’s hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine, last week.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov admitted Russia had bombed the maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine, but justified it by saying it was harboring Ukrainian militants – and not the pregnant women who were being carried out of the rubble on stretchers as they were captured on video captured for all the world to see (except those in Russia) (“Cruelty,” March 10).

Russia’s pathetic attempt to cover up its atrocities against civilians must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Video of these war crimes should be played on a continuous loop at the United Nations so that Russian diplomats and their few allies can see the truth instead of hearing lies.

As the helpless Biden government and our NATO allies stand by and witness the slaughter being inflicted on Ukraine’s innocent citizens, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is asking for their help.

I View of the United States government and its NATO partners as much respect as I would give to subway drivers who watch a person at the other end of their subway car being attacked and do nothing about it.

In the last two weeks we’ve learned a few things about the Russian military: It’s very good at terrorizing and killing civilians, including pregnant mothers in a maternity hospital, but only mediocre at actually fighting an opposing army, even one such is much smaller and has significantly less armor, aircraft and other resources.

With 10 grandchildren wishing them a long, happy and prosperous life, I’m anything but a hawk, but I’m also a realist.

Vladimir Putin will not be satisfied if all of Ukraine’s major cities are reduced to rubble and his army occupies Kyiv. Failure by the West to take the necessary action now to stop this thug will only delay the inevitable while empowering other aggressive nations to invoke the nuclear threat to get their way.

With Putin, history repeats itself tries to conquer Ukraine for himself. He kills innocent civilians with no regard for human life – whether adults or children. He even bombed a children’s hospital. Of course, the soldiers and civilians have shown great courage in defending their country.

This is not just a nation fighting for its freedom; the stakes are much higher. The madman Adolf Hitler invaded Poland and urged his military to take country after country. Had he been successful, the whole world might have fallen under him.

He started with a country. Putin is at the same stage. If he succeeds, he can follow the same path and cross one border after the other with his military.

I watched in The Post how a pregnant woman was carried to safety after the bombing of a maternity and children’s hospital.

Zelenskyy called the bombing an “atrocity”.

Putin and his military machine committed war crimes by killing women and children, and they don’t feel guilty.

I am deeply saddened and appalled at the murder of innocent civilians that has just taken place. President Biden and NATO must now take stronger action.

The bombing of the Mariupol maternity hospital is a disgrace to Mother Russia.

Russians of all walks of life should feel dirty at the carnage Vlad inflicts on a people he claims to refer to as “kin.”

Imagine how he treats a nation like Poland that he looks down on. Poland is the main target of his wrath, as it was there that the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and eventually its beloved Soviet Union began.

With 90 percent of the Russian army stuck in Ukraine, now is the time for the Russian people to rebel and erase that taint from their nation.
