Larry Ray’s Victim Describes Abuse by Sarah Lawrence, the “Cult Leader”.

The woman who allegedly forced Larry Ray into prostitution told the jury at him Trial in federal court in Manhattan Friday that she handed the accused sex cult leader around $2.5 million paid by clients – and detailed the physical and psychological abuse he allegedly subjected her to for years.

Claudia Drury, who testified under her real name, briefly addressed the four years she worked as a prostitute on Ray’s orders while being questioned by prosecutor Danielle Sassoon.

Drury also explained that mistreatment Ray submitted to her.

“He slapped my face so hard I fell. Pulled my hair. strangled me suffocated me Hit me,” she said.

Ray also threatened her repeatedly, she testified, and at one point suggested he could kidnap her and send her to the Middle East.

“He threatened me several times that he would put me in jail. He threatened to kill me on one memorable occasion. He threatened to cut open my face. He threatened to have me kidnapped and dropped off in the Middle East. He threatened to blackmail people I knew,” Drury said.

Drury came under Ray’s control after meeting him in her dorm room in 2010 while she was a sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester County.

Ray moved into the building where his daughter Talia lived after she was released from prison on an unrelated case that fall.

He soon began attracting a group of his daughter’s friends and wowing them with fantastic stories about hobbling with political leaders and getting involved in military operations in Eastern Europe.

In the summer of 2011, a group of college students moved into a one-bedroom apartment where Ray was staying on the Upper East Side. There, prosecutors allege, his abuse of the students and the level of control he had over them increased.

At the apartment, Drury said Ray sometimes steered conversations toward sex, and described times he’d frequented sex clubs and engaged in sexual acts with others in front of a group of people.

One night, Drury was asleep in the apartment on an air mattress in the living room when Ray walked over to her, stood over her and fondled his pants while he talked about how to make her orgasm.

He then suggested that she and another Sarah Lawrence student who lived in the apartment, Dan Levin, have sex, Drury testified.

“When he left, we did,” she said.

On another occasion, Ray asked Drury to masturbate on a couch in the apartment’s living room while he was in the room next door.

“He wanted me to quit and wanted me to be very loud,” she testified.

Ray also claimed to have mental control over Drury, she testified, and once encouraged her to force her parents to take her to the hospital.

Prosecutors played a disturbing audio clip of a recorded phone conversation between Drury and Ray in which he trains her to tell her parents that she fantasized about stabbing her friend and killing them both.

“Tell her you want to go to the hospital,” Ray says to Drury while speaking to her mother, according to the recording.
