Larry Hartstein – CBS Boston said: ‘Denver designed well to stop what Kansas City does’

(CBS Denver) – The Kansas City captain is back at the top of the AFC West rankings. They’re not the team that blew up the competition in the last two seasons, but they’re looking to beat the teams they should. Four consecutive wins brought the Captains to 7-4. It was a win over the rest of the division. The Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos all took a 6-5 lead.

Week 13 games can offer a bit of a separation for the captains. Or they could simply mess up the rankings, without really changing much. The charger tries to hit back the Cincinnati Bengals. The Raiders face the Washington Soccer Team in a game of teams gaining momentum towards the end of the season. And the Broncos want to end the Chiefs’ winning streak. All four AFC West teams are hoping to at least take the top spot of the group.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Cincinnati Bengals, Sunday, December 5, 1:00pm on CBS

The Chargers got off to a strong start to the season, figuring out how to get close to the wins they had previously overlooked. But they have struggled in recent times, most recently a 28-13 loss to the Broncos in Week 12. Justin Herbert threw 303 yards and two touchdowns. He was also eliminated twice, one of which was returned for an encounter. Austin Ekeler’s 12 only leads to a meager 31 yards.

The Chargers now face a Bengals team that dominated rival Pittsburgh Steelers a week ago. Joe Mixon ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns with 28 runs. Joe Burrow had a more modest afternoon, hitting 20-24 for 190 yards, one TD and one INT.

Timing looks poor for the Charger, with Cincinnati firing on all cylinders. But the reality can be quite the opposite.

“I think this is a really good position for them,” says Hartstein, because Cincinnati is at the top of the market value. They couldn’t look any better. Teams that are about to lose will win more than 30 plus points previously on very poor ATS bets next week, when Chargers have very poor performance. And I think this is a good point, because Austin Ekeler should have a monster day. The Bengals really had a hard time defending when running back into the backyard. They did not face any running back of his caliber to catch the ball. I think they keep it close. I will score. If it goes up to 3.5 or four, I’m definitely using the Charger. ”

Washington @ Las Vegas Raiders Soccer Team, Sunday, December 5, 4:05 p.m

The Raiders entered their Thanksgiving Day game against the Cowboys as the big losers. And they went away with a victory in extra time. However, it was not the most beautiful victory. The Raiders took 14 penalties in 110 yards, and they allowed Dak Prescott to throw 209 yards in just the fourth inning. Five drives ended in field objectives. Even so, Derek Carr still threw 373 yards and one touch, the score was 24-39. Josh Jacobs has 22 runs for 89 yards.

The Raiders will face a Washington Team that has withdrawn itself into the NFC East race. This is the most recent win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Again, it’s not pretty. Thought WFT’s defense had improved after the early woes of the season, it let Russell Wilson march the length of the field to beat in the final two minutes. Only an intercept in the two-point transition would prevent the possibility of overtime. Taylor Heinicke continued to play lively with his elusiveness, but he managed to get the ball into the penalty area. Antonio Gibson has accumulated 111 yards, but he needs 29 carries to do it.

“It was a great game,” according to Hartstein, “because the Raiders clearly figured everything out. But now without Darren Waller is a huge loss. They don’t really have many other great targets, other than Renfro Hunters. And Washington has won three in a row. Since goodbye, they are a completely different team. This will be a game over. Immediately. I will pass this aspect of the game. I can’t wait to see it, because I think we have two teams that can both make it to the knockout stages. ”

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday, December 5, 8:20 p.m

The captains look a little more like the team everyone expected after winning the AFC two years ago. A tough schedule was soon followed by a number of poor performances, including a March 27 disappearance to the Tennessee Titans in late October. But the Chiefs have not lost since. They have had four consecutive wins to take the lead in the AFC West. And they did it with a little help from the defense and the running game. Patrick Mahomes looks better sometimes, too, most notably throwing 406 yards and 5 TDs in their 41-14 bombing run against the Raiders a few weeks ago. However, his struggle continued.

The captains will say their goodbyes and their remaining schedule is games against the AFC contenders, including all four against teams in their division. That starts against the Broncos next Monday.

The Broncos topped the Chargers for Week 12, thanks in large part to 147 yards above ground. Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams have combined for most of that. Denver’s passing game, led by Teddy Bridgewater, wasn’t one of the league’s more productive. Their average is 223.7 yards per game, which puts them in the bottom half of NFL crimes. The Broncos’ solid defense, top 10 in yards and points allowed, stopped Ekeler, although Herbert was able to move the ball in the air.

The Broncos combined well with the Chiefs in their first meeting this season. Add in the element of tight competition and race division, and this becomes a tighter match than the current spread might suggest.

Hartstein notes: “It’s hard to put two digits before Teddy Bridgewater. “He was 19-4 against the contagion like an underdog. And even if the Captain gains 17 points, he can get you through the backdoor to at least push the 10 point difference. Denver has excellent pass defense, or should I say an above average pass defense. And that’s what you need when facing the chiefs. The team that beat Denver on this 4-game winning streak was Philly, and they ran for 216 yards, 5.5 yards each. Chiefs are not set up to do that. Denver is really well designed to stop what Kansas City does. And Javonte Williams, the run back to Denver, was fun to watch. Teddy’s also has a really good set of receivers and a couple of good endings. I think Denver keeps it close. I’m taking points. ”
