LAPD releases body cam video in Burlington store showing stray bullet killing 14-year-old Valentina Orellana-Peralta

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Police Department released camera footage of a shoot dead a 14 year old girl in a dressing room at a Burlington department store.

The video was released Monday afternoon on the police department’s YouTube page.

Valentina Orellana-Peralta was identified as the teen killed on Thursday when officers fired on an assault suspect and a bullet penetrated a wall and hit the girl while she was in the locker room.

The little girl went to the store with her mother, trying on clothes for her birthday.

The girl’s parents along with their attorney are scheduled to hold a news conference on Tuesday morning.

ONE Operation Justice For Valentina, as well as a GoFundMe account, was created on behalf of the victim’s family.

Police Captain Stacy Spell said in the posted video.

The 35-minute video from the police department begins with the audio of several 911 calls being made to the police.

“I have a hostile customer attacking my store,” said one caller, who could be heard shouting, “Evacuate the building!”

In the surveillance video footage, you can see the suspect, who is holding a bicycle and a metal object that appears to be a bicycle chain, entering the store and taking the escalator to the second floor.

At one point, he left the store and returned to the front door. The suspect was then seen grabbing a customer, knocking him to the ground and hitting them with a metal object.

The video also shows moments when officers opened fire on the suspect near the changing rooms. Those shots eventually killed the suspect and Orellana-Peralta.

The LA County coroner later identified the assault suspect as Daniel Elena Lopez, 24 years old.
