Kim Kardashian responded to Debra Messing’s comment questioning why she was invited to host Saturday night live.
In September, the reality star and entrepreneur was announced as a key celebrity guest on the long-running sketch comedy show.
Before Kardashian’s performance, the Will & Grace The actress tweeted her confusion over why she had been chosen to perform.
“Why Kim Kardashian?” She began her message. “I mean, I know she’s a cultural icon, but SNL generally has hosts, who are performers who are there to promote a movie, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?”
In the season premiere of The Kardashiansreleased on Thursday (April 14), the one-off SNL The moderator addressed Messing’s tweet.
“A girl out Will & Grace came out and said she has no idea why I was chosen to host but it’s like why do you care?
Kardashian continued, “I don’t comment to put people down, especially another woman. If that’s what you’re thinking, dude, then cool, tune in.”
Brass later apologized for her words during an appearance on a chat show Tamron Hall. She told the host, “Well I didn’t mean to troll her and you know if anyone took it that way I apologize.”
Rather than trying to “tear Kardashian down,” Messing said she just wondered why SNL had broken with its tradition of booking musicians and actors.

“It was never my intention,” she explained. “She is this phenomenon. I mean, you know, she’s a cultural icon.”
