Kevin Spacey has dropped out of another film over sexual assault allegations

Kevin Spacey loses another paycheck.

The 62-year-old Oscar winner will no longer be in 1242: Gateway to the West, a film about Mongolian warrior Genghis Khan, according to Variety.

The news follows Spacey, who pleaded not guilty to sexual assault and other charges on Thursday. Producer Bill Chamberlain told the publication that the project will replace him due to the charges.

The historical drama was bought around Cannes, with Spacey brought in as an actor.

According to Variety, the story would follow a holy man – played by Spacey – trying to stop an invasion of Europe by Khan’s armies.

According to Variety, negotiations have already begun with a new actor to take the place of the House of Cards graduate.

Oscar winner Kevin Spacey appeared in London on July 14 to plead not guilty to allegations of sexual assault.

The film, directed by Péter Soós, has a production budget of $10-25 million and is scheduled to start filming on October 17. Eric Roberts and Christopher Lambert also star in the film.

Spacey pleaded not guilty to five counts of assault in the London Criminal Court on Thursday. The allegations are linked to charges based on reports by three men between 2005 and 2013.

Spacey is on trial in the UK as of June 6, 2023 and the case is expected to last at least three weeks.

The New Jersey native has another project in the books, thriller Peter Five Eight. The film’s producers released a statement on the scandalous star in May, shortly after the charges were officially filed in the UK.

“While it is unfortunate that the mounting negative press is timed to coincide with Kevin’s return to work, it is to be expected,” the producers said at the time.

“There are those who would like him not to act, but they are outnumbered by fans worldwide waiting for an artist they’ve enjoyed for decades to return to the big screen,” the memo continued.

“The production has no knowledge of or comment on the various swirling allegations and believes it is for the courts to determine validity, if it exists. ‘Peter Five Eight’ is a film for fans who care more about the art than the scandal,” the statement said.
