Kate Moss will testify at Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial

Model Kate Moss is expected to take the stand in Johnny Depp’s bombshell libel trial against Amber Heard this week, The Post exclusively learned on Monday.

The British fashion icon, 48, will testify via video link in the courtroom in Fairfax, Virginia on Wednesday, sources with knowledge said.

Depp’s lawyers were spotted fist-fisting a few weeks ago when Heard, 36, suddenly brought up Moss during her testimony.

Legal experts said at the time that Heard’s mention of Moss in the booth could give her ex-husband’s team a chance to quash a rumor that he pushed the supermodel down a flight of stairs when the two were dating in the 1990s.

“This is a mistake [Heard] made, Kate brought up Moss, which possibly opened the door to [Depp’s team] bring [Moss] as a witness to the impeachment” — and Moss “said, ‘That never happened,’” said California entertainment attorney Mitra Ahouraian.

A source close to Depp told The Post at the time: “Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s who she clearly felt was unsupportive, which couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Lawyers for the ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ star will call Moss as a witness, the sources said on Monday.

She was in a relationship with Depp between 1994 and 1997 and has always been supportive of the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Heard brought up Moss when she was testifying on May 5, recounting a fight in March 2015 in which she slapped Depp in the face, afraid he would push her sister Whitney down a flight of stairs.

The Aquaman actress said she thought of Kate Moss and the Staircase “immediately” – prompting Depp’s attorney Ben Chew to turn and fist pump.

Moss was not originally expected to testify because the rumored stairwell incident is not related to any specific charge in the Virginia case. But Heard’s mention of the model paved the way for Depp’s team to call her to testify, experts said.

The testimony will come on the third to last day of the six-week trial, which is due to end on Friday. Moss could be a crucial character witness for Depp.

Depp, 58, is suing ex-wife Heard for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she described herself as a “public figure who depicts domestic violence.” Her essay didn’t name the actor, but claims it defamed him, ruined his career and caused him to lose millions in revenue.

Heard sued Depp for $100 million and said he defamed her in 2020 when he and his attorneys told the press she fabricated their abuse allegations.

During the 2020 UK trial of Depp against Britain’s The Sun, Heard claimed her ex-husband once pushed Moss down a flight of stairs.

Describing the same fight her sister was involved in, Heard told the British court at the time: “I remembered information I had heard [that] He pushed a former girlfriend – I think it was Kate Moss – down the stairs. I had heard that rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”

Depp is suing The Sun over an article that branded him a “wife beater”. He lost the case after the UK Supreme Court upheld the majority of Heard’s abuse allegations.
