Tonight’s episode on BBC2 features fashion lover Hilda, who told host Kate she has had fibroids growing around her uterus for years.

The 40-year-old woman was presented face-to-face with incredible images of the inside of her body.

She holds her growing belly in tears as she talks about how it has impacted her life and ruined her love of fashion.

She also revealed that strangers sometimes congratulate her on her pregnancy and claim that she is brilliant – when in fact she is in great pain.

Kate, sitting with Hilda’s best friend, became emotional when she saw what she was living with Hilda, who called the fibroid a “monster”, taking a moment to process the images. .

She said: “The graphic reality of what was sitting in my stomach, was shocking.

“Seeing the ordinary and mine, it was like an inflated balloon. I didn’t expect it to be this big, it was scary.”

She added: “For me it’s normal, but it’s not normal. My life has adjusted around the condition, but it shouldn’t be.”

Dr Guddi said: ‘Hilda had one of the worst cases of uterine fibroids that even her surgeon had ever seen.

“My mouth literally dropped when we were shown an augmented reality image of what all her fibroids lined up would look like.”

Watching the episode sent many looking to tissues, and one viewer tweeted: “OMG 😱 I can’t believe what poor Hilda had to go through with fibroids that made her uterus 40 fold times normal size! A total of 90 fibroids. Crying for Hilda 😭, She must be in so much pain.”

Another said: “Oh my gosh I’m in tears for Hilda πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯ I pray she’ll be fine. Hopefully she can get surgery, cure and make a full recovery.”

Hilda opted for a risky surgery with Dr Guddi revealing at the end of the show that they had removed 100 fibroids from her abdomen.

Fibroids are noncancerous tumors that develop in or around the uterus (womb).

Growth blocks are made up of muscle and fibrous tissue, and vary in size.

Many women don’t know they have fibroids because they don’t have any symptoms, but about 40% of those of childbearing age have fibroids.

The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unknown, but they are related to the hormone estrogen.

Estrogen is a female reproductive hormone produced by the ovaries.
