A new brand Kanye West the documentary showed his mother warning him not to become “too arrogant”.
The controversial rapper’s career is described in a three-part series titled Jen-Yuhs, will be released on Netflix in February.
Featuring footage of his rise from producer to successful rapper, and filmed in Chicago and New York, the documentary also focuses on West’s relationship with his mother, Donda .
At some point from 2001, West was visiting his mother at her home in Chicago when he discussed his success after producing Jay-Z’s song “Izzo (HOVA)”.
“I was thinking about something that I am going to tell you, Kanye, that I think is important,” Donda told him, adding: “You came down to earth and everything, but you know what. yes, you have a lot of confidence [and] Show a little arrogance even though you’re humble and everything. ”
She continued: “But it’s important to remember that giants look in the mirror and see nothing.”
At this moment, Kanye smiled and lowered his head. “Do you understand what I mean?” she asked him, and West replied, “You think I’m too arrogant?”
Donda replied, “No. [You] come out just right because that’s what’s inside. You can’t be a star and not be a star; you must have some compliments on you. I’m not saying you go out like that. I think the way you handle yourself is really perfect.
“But at the same time, you remember being on the ground and you can be in the air at the same time.”

Later in the documentary, Donda told the documentary crew: “Kanye has always been self-absorbed in some way.”
West named the 10th album after his mother, who passed away in November 2007. Jen-Yuhs will be released on Netflix on February 16th.
