MISSION, Kan. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed the first case of the omicron variant in the state.
While emergency rooms are handling a plethora of COVID-19 patients, the omicron variant raises new concerns for hospitals.
The KDHE said the infected person was a vaccinated adult in Franklin County, however, they did not receive the booster vaccine.
Janet Stanek, acting division head, commented that “the discovery of the variant is not surprising.”
According to the health ministry, no additional information about the infected individual will be released.
