Kansas City overnight shooting leaves one dead

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man dead nearby on Blue Ridge Avenue.

Just before 2 a.m., officers were called to 81st Street and Blue Ridge Avenue on firing orders.

According to police, the call came from the driver saying an unidentified vehicle was fired at him and his passengers, who were hit near 87th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

The driver pulled over near 81st for help. When emergency medical services arrived on the scene, they declared the passenger dead.

Police continue to talk to witnesses and collect evidence from the scene.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information leading to an arrest.
