Julia Haart’s lawyer demands permanent protection from ex

A lawyer for My Unorthodox Life star Julia Haart called estranged husband Silvio Scaglia “a thug with money to burn” – as Scaglia’s lawyer called her abuse allegations “sham” during a court hearing on Friday in their acrimonious split.

Haart, 50 – a former member of the Orthodox Jewish community – filed for divorce from Scaglia in February after he ousted her as CEO of his company Elite World Group.

The Netflix personality then obtained a protective restraining order against Scaglia in family court — which her attorney, Danielle Petitti, was scheduled to invoke as permanent during a video hearing in the Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday.

Petitti accused Scaglia — an Italian billionaire — of harassing and threatening her client, hiring a $50,000-a-month PR rep to wage a media war against her and a high-profile criminal defense attorney to “persuade” prosecutors ‘ to bring charges against them.

“That’s the behavior of a hitter who has money to burn,” Petitti said.

Petitti summarized Haart’s testimony in the ongoing trial about a number of incidents in which Scaglia allegedly verbally abused and yelled at Haart – including an alleged fight in January 2021 that culminated in Haart crying naked on the bathroom floor.

“All the evidence shows a pattern of domestic violence and a pattern of control,” Petitti said.

Scaglia’s behavior “cause her to have symptoms similar to those of a panic attack … made it difficult for her [Haart] — which both parties admit is very thin — to eat,” Petitti claimed. “This stress caused her to lose her appetite and worsened her insomnia.”

But Scaglia’s attorney, Robert Wallack, accused Haart of fabricating the abuse allegations, claiming she had no evidence of any of them.

Wallack said the false claims were an attempt to get revenge on Scaglia for firing Haart and to help her get a protective order against Scaglia so he wouldn’t move into her 10,000-square-foot triplex penthouse in downtown Manhattan in the 70 Vestry Street.

“She is not a victim of abuse and is not a victim of domestic violence,” Wallack said.

“This whole family crimes case was a sham,” Wallack argued. “It is an excuse for them to get exclusive use of 70 Vestry.”
