Jon Watts looks back on the “therapy session” he had with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield on Spider-Man: There’s no way home the set.
Since Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: There’s no way home has been released for the whole world to enjoy, the cast and crew are starting to open up about things.
Jon Watts recently spoke to Variety and recalled the discussion that took place with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon:
“We sat on chairs arranged in a circle and went through the script together. I talked to everyone privately, but getting everyone together to talk about the story, how the pieces came together, and what Spider-Man meant to them – that was exciting to me. We have only three actors who have ever played Spider-Man in a movie and each has been through a lot, both on and off screen. It’s like a Spider-Man session.
Because we finished that work ahead of time, when we shot that first scene with everyone, it was great to take a step back and see the crew watching, like they were watching a movie. You’re shooting something more than just a scene from a movie; you’re watching a once-in-a-lifetime event. ”
Jon Watts also talked about not only wrapping up his Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland, but also the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb films:
“I always take my biggest fear and make that central to the themes of the movies,” he says. “Homecoming” is about a kid who gets a great opportunity and is afraid to miss his chance, creating a disaster. That was my fear: ‘What if I mess things up?’ ‘Far From Home’ is about being scared of making a second movie and messing things up. Peter Parker is given a mission and he doesn’t want to take the risk. ‘No Way Home’ is about trying to end this origin story and the responsibility that comes with this. Peter Parker and Spider-Man means a lot to everyone and I feel that responsibility. ”
Here’s Jon Watts’ Summary Spider-Man: There’s no way home:
“For the first time in the history of Spider-Man cinema, the identity of our friendly neighborhood hero is revealed, bringing his Superhero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life. him and put the people he cares most about at risk. When he enlisted Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell ripped a hole in their world, unleashing the most powerful villains to ever battle Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his biggest test yet, which will not only permanently change his own future but also the future of the Multiverse. ”
