Jogger sexually assaulted on a walkway off West Street in Manhattan

A female jogger was sexually assaulted by a cyclist on an exercise trail off West Street in lower Manhattan on Sunday morning, police officers said.
The attack happened around 6 a.m. on the Hudson River Greenway at Pier 40 near West Street and Clarkson Street, police said.
The attacker pushed the woman to the ground, choked her and sexually assaulted her before stealing her cell phone, police officers said. He then fled on his bike in an unknown direction.
Police released surveillance video and photos on Monday showing the man just before the attack.


EMS took the woman to a hospital for pain and bruising.
The attacker is described as bearded, approximately 5’7″, weighs 180 pounds and is in his 20s to 30s. He was last seen in dark clothing.
Surveillance video was taken in the West Street and Charles Lane area prior to the incident.
