Joe Lockhart lists Brooklyn townhouse for $10.5 million

It might not be the White House, but this Brooklyn Heights townhouse has some serious Washington ties.
Joe Lockhart and Giovanna Gray Lockhart are trying again to sell their 25-foot-wide, 6,200-square-foot townhouse at 15 Willow St. — this time for $10.5 millionaccording to a StreetEasy listing update.
This certainly isn’t the couple’s first time at the rodeo. Joe, the Pres. Press Secretary for Bill Clinton and Giovanna, the former DC editor of Glamour, sold their Washington home to the Obamas for $8.1 million in 2017. Located in the affluent Kalorama neighborhood, the former presidential couple rented this 8,200-square-foot space after leaving the White House earlier this year.
Two years later, in 2019, this time bordering New York City, the Lockharts paid $8.99 million — the full asking price — to claim this Brooklyn townhouse for themselves. The spread was originally quoted for a much higher $14.15 million in 2016.

StreetEasy reveals that the Lockharts have made previous attempts at sales. In 2020, they listed it for $10.49 million; in 2021 it demanded as much as $10.75 million.
“They love their home, but they’ve moved out of state,” said Karen Heyman of Sotheby’s International Realty – Downtown Manhattan Brokerage – who shares the listing with her brother Alan Heyman. She added that a tenant has been living in the house since the couple moved.
As it stands now, the townhouse has been completely renovated according to the listing – and it is also on a corner lot with private parking.

Inside it has six bedrooms, four bathrooms and two guest toilets. As for other perks, the saloon floor ceiling reaches 12 feet above a fireplace – one of three in total – a dining area and wide herringbone floors. Running down the side of this room are several oversized windows that fill the room with light. To the side there is a kitchen with custom cabinetry, marble island, La Cornue range and access to a patio overlooking the property’s garden.
Below, the garden level has a more casual vibe. Just on the other side of the doors leading to the garden is a family room with a gas fireplace, marble kitchenette and laundry room. The cellar, on the other hand, has a temperature-controlled wine room with space for 300 bottles, as well as a tasting alcove located under an arched brick niche. The seemingly flexible screening area in the basement is now used as a home gym.
The master suite occupies the second floor of the home which includes automatic blinds, dressing areas, living room with gas fireplace and closets. The en suite bathroom has heated floors, a rain shower and a deep claw foot tub.
The third floor houses three bedrooms, a lounge area and another washroom. Just above there is another family room with kitchenette leading to a terrace with outdoor hot tub. The crowning glory of the structure: a roof terrace with an unobstructed view of Manhattan.
