Japanese Twitch Streamer Banned For Showing Everything During Karaoke Session

Mega popular Japanese streamer Junichi Kato got banned on Twitch. The edgy streamer often draws comparisons to xQc for his energy, but this time he drew the ire of Twitch mods for showing a little too much of himself.

Junichi Kato, also known as kato_junichi0817 on Twitch and junchannel on YouTube, has built an impressive following in his time on the live streaming platforms. Considering the past year further Sullygnomit has a slight average of 20,000 viewers at all times, with a whopping peak viewership of 87,510 in September 2021.

With a following as big as his and a reputation for getting bigger and crazier with his stunts, it was only a matter of time before the 36-year-old streamer found himself on the rough end of Twitch’s notoriously conflicting terms of service. He has now found himself on the receiving end of his first ban for “baring” himself on stream.

Taking to Twitter to express himself in his unique style, he said “Forgive me Twitch” based on rough translations. “When I think about it, I cry now.”

Continuing his light-hearted comment on Twitch being banned, Junichi poked fun at the mega-corporation, saying, “Oh, Twitch isn’t a karaoke platform?”

Known colloquially as “Unkochan,” Junichi has had an impressive impact on the Japanese streaming community, often touted as “Japan’s biggest streamer.” A reddit comment had this to say about his impact on the Japanese livestream scene:

“It’s not even an exaggeration that he single-handedly triggered the recent migration of all Japanese streamers to Twitch in the last year or so. Before joining Twitch, it was basically a niche streaming site to watch professional FPS players like Shaka or Stylishnoob.

After joining Twitch, every other streamer seems to have started switching from Youtube streaming to Twitch. He’s also a really unique streamer as he’s turned off donations all the time in the 13 years he’s been streaming.”

When someone gets banned on Twitch, it’s usually a good guess that nudity was involved in some way. UnkoChan’s ban is no different, with the streamer showing and shaking his butt during a karaoke stream.

As many are quick to point out, the amount of butt shown in the video that caused the hugely popular streamer to be banned is far less than is regularly seen on other channels, especially with the hot tub meta that is still firmly entrenched in the collective memory of Twitch users. Although some also liked to take the situation lightly”justified ban, not enough water

Along with the comparisons to xQc, there has also been a lot of discussion on Twitter and Reddit relating to the banning of “show butt cleavage‘, with xQc not receiving a ban from illegally watching Hunter x Hunter stream during the anime meta.

There is no official response from Twitch, but we will keep you updated on the situation should it develop.
