ANTONIO CONTE could turn Tottenham BIG in the near future if the club fail to bring in any players before the end of the winter transfer window.
That’s according to former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp the following 0-2 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
Despite the first defeat in the Premier League since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo in November, Spurs are still vying to finish in the top four this semester.
The North London side could sit sixth in the table, but they are just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with two games remaining.
However, with Spurs yet to splurge this month, Redknapp urged president Daniel Levy to back Conte when he announced that the Italian coach must be promised money to take the job.
I said Sports sky: “He needs players. When he came in after Nuno, there must have been some dialogue between him and Daniel Levy about the players he needed.
“He’s had a few months to review the squad and he’s done an excellent job getting them into the position.
“There is a chasm between Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool and the rest. But Tottenham have come close to breaking into the top four, which no other manager can do, but he needs support.
“He needs to attract players fast – two, three, four players in the window and he has nine days to do it.
“Daniel Levy is a difficult man to deal with, but if you don’t turn around [Conte] – look at his history at Inter Milan – I think he’s leaving the club because you can’t promise and don’t deliver.
“Tottenham fans must be frustrated because every year they watch their team and everything is great with the stadium and training ground – but the team needs a little help right now.
“Then give him back, give him what he needs.”
SunSport exclusively revealed last week how Spurs are set to spend up to £50m in January signed Wolves winger Adama Traore and Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum could quickly return to the English top-flight after he leaves Liverpool in the summer.
It has been claimed that Tottenham are in talks with Les Parisiens over a possible swap deal between the Netherlands international and Tanguy Ndombele.
