In a shocking episode near the end of the film, James Bond dies in an act of self-sacrifice after he is poisoned by the villain Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek).
Talk to the official There’s no time to die podcast, Craig discussed the unprecedented decision to kill the series’ protagonist.
“There were a lot of different ideas that came and went and some of them stuck,” he said. “The stream of this is family [and] love, plus the fact that we had an ending, so it was intended to hang the movie from that. ”
The actor describes the process as a “huge collaborative effort,” adding: “That’s really the headline: just make it better. So we all enter it in different ways.
“I tend not to be quiet or keep my mouth shut about things and the only reason I want to get in is because I just want it to be the best it can be.”
He described the ending to his character as “really very, very satisfying”.
