James’ Akron School Principal resigns after angry mother alleges child abuse

The principal of the school founded by NBA star LeBron James has resigned after an 11-year-old boy was slapped.

Brandi Davis, the first principal of I Promise Truong, has been on leave since September, when the incident happened, according to Akron signaling magazine.

Akron Public Schools spokesman Mark Williamson said the school board will vote on Monday on the resignation. He said the results of the investigation will be shared with the state as well as the district’s policy on issues that may affect state licensure.

The district has concluded an investigation into the incident, but the results have not yet been released.

Davis was appointed principal when the school was founded four years ago. This is a partnership between the school and the LeBron James Family Foundation and is designed to promote the education of children at risk. James is a native of Ohio community

“We are rekindling dreams that have been extinguished — in third and fourth grade,” Davis said two years ago, according to New York Times. “We want to change the face of urban education.”

At that time, she talked about teach students “how love.”

The mother of the slapped child, who was not named by Beacon Magazine, has called for Davis to be fired.

“We treat you all like family,” she said of the school, Beacon Magazine reported in September.

The mother alleged that Davis called her after the incident, saying she slapped the boy during a lunch break.

The boy used a obscene terms to discuss a mess left in the boys’ bathroom, the mother said she was told by Davis.

The boy’s mother said the child’s lips were cut and bleeding profusely, adding that the boy was wearing a mask when he was slapped.

The mother said she asked Davis, “Why did you put your hand on my baby?”

“She said she just reacted and slapped him,” the mother recounted.

“I was surprised. When she called me, I said, ‘Is this a dream? I am confused. Is this a racing ash?'”

The mother believes that Davis should pay the price by losing her job.

“I don’t hate her because everyone makes mistakes, but this is very serious when it comes to a child being assaulted,” she said. “I would never hit my kids in the mouth to the point where their lips are swollen.”
