Jameela Jamil is leaving Twitter after Elon Musk bought a $44 billion website

Jameela Jamil has announced she is leaving Twitter following the news that Elon Musk has bought the platform.
The Tesla founder successfully acquired the social media site for around $44bn (£34.5bn) on Monday (April 25). As a result, Twitter will now be a private company.
Hours before the announcement, billionaire Musk urged his “worst critics” to stay on Twitter.
Users of the site have reacted to news of the sale, with some announcing that they would be relinquishing their accounts.
former The good place Actress and presenter Jamil has stated that she would also be leaving the platform over concerns about how the environment will change under Musk’s ownership.
She sent a final message to her followers and included four photos of herself with her dog.
“Ah, he has Twitter,” Jamil’s message began. “I want this to be my last tweet lying here. Just really *any* excuse to show pictures of Barold.”
She continued her farewell statement by voicing her concerns that Musk’s proposed attempt to promote freedom of speech would lead to further malicious behavior on the site.
She wrote: “I fear this free speech imperative will help this platform from hell reach its ultimate form of utterly lawless hatred, bigotry and misogyny. Much luck.”
Jamil had previously hinted at her plans to stop using the site if Musk’s takeover is successful. Earlier Monday, she tweeted: “One good thing about Elon buying Twitter is that I will *FINALLY* go and stop being a complete threat to society here. So it’s really a win-win situation for all of you.”
