Word group It’s always sunny in Philadelphia went to rainy Wrexham to promote a new show – sort of.

As we all know, the legends of Hollywood Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have branched out from their acting careers and in the most random move ever, they bought local Welsh side Wrexham FC.

Rob and Ryan visited Wrexham to inspect the site and spoke to the UK press about the move – where Ryan accidentally drop F-Bomb on live broadcast and then apologized profusely.

In potentially lesser-known news, however, the pair are creating a documentary series about what the big buyout means to the group and the local community.

The first trailer for the documentary series, titled Welcome To Wrexham, has now been dropped, and Always Sunny fans will find it very familiar.

In the teaser, which begins with the iconic Always Sunny theme music, a group – or gang, as before – stand in a pub decorated with Wrexham FC flags and scarves, watching TV.

The group consisted of a blonde woman, three tall men and another man who can only be described as Danny DeVito’s Welsh Doppelganger.

As they stared at the screen, the actual cast of It’s Always Sunny – Rob, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day and Danny – stared back, seemingly confused.

Back in Wrexham, Dee Reynolds’ Welsh counterpart asked in Welsh: “What are they looking at?”

The metaverse expands even further as the next scene shows Ryan and Rob sitting in a bar watching the two gangs observe each other, as Ryan turns to Rob and asks, ‘Am I in an advert for [It’s Always Sunny] right away?’

Rob responded with a simple lie: ‘No.’

The trailer ends with the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia logo being replaced with the words ‘It Never Sunny In Wrexham’, before changing to the document’s own title, Welcome To Wrexham.

Welcome To Wrexham is scheduled to arrive on FX and Hulu in 2022 and has been approved for at least two series.

The documentary will tell the story of how Ryan and Rob acquired the team in hopes of turning the club into ‘a crappy story the whole world can uproot’, despite having no experience of the club. soccer or even work together.

An official synopsis states: ‘From Hollywood to Wales, pitch to dressing room, office to pub, Welcome to Wrexham will follow Rob and Ryan’s demise in possession of the sentence. Football club and the inextricably linked destinies of a team and a town count on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that can use it. ‘

As with Welcome To Wrexham, Rob is currently enjoying being the creator of the world’s longest running live-action comedy series, as Always Sunny celebrates its 15th season.

To celebrate this milestone, the cast has launched a new podcast series, Podcast Always Sunny, where they look back at the first episodes and discuss how they were inspired – and what they would change.

In the latest episode, Glenn revealed they almost dropped the show in the first series after an argument with FX about a priest figure with a pedophile scheme they wanted to include.

Welcome To Wrexham will be released in 2022.
