Has Disney canceled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron or is it just delayed?

Star Wars Rogue Squadron delayed

Disney hasn’t announced that Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will be canceled. However, it has almost certainly been pushed back to 2024 or beyond.

Little has been revealed about the film so far, other than that it will focus on the titular Rogue Squadron and will be a completely original story. It had already been pulled from the production schedule due to director Patty Jenkins’ busy schedule. The cause of the delay could be as simple as Disney didn’t think there was enough time to shoot and finish the film by December 2023.

However, it’s hard not to speculate with a franchise as volatile as Star Wars. We got one movie a year between 2015 and 2019, but with Solo and The Rise of Skywalker underperforming, Disney was concerned about releasing more.

Rogue Squadron would be the franchise’s first film in five years. However, that honor is now likely to go to Taika Waititi’s film, which is still slated for a late 2023 release. Is the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie canceled or postponed?
