It comes like Sky Broadband stopped working today, leaving hundreds of customers complaining that they couldn’t access the internet.

By 10:30 a.m., more than 500 issues had been reported on complaint tracking website Down Detector.

If you’re one of Sky’s 6.2 million broadband customers, here are some simple checks you can do and information on whether you’ll be compensated for service drops.

Sky has a dedicated page where you can check to see if you have a broadband outage and if the problem is common in your area.

You can also use it to check service for Sky TV, the Sky TV app, and the Sky mobile service.

This link will take you to a website where you can enter your landline number to check the service.

You can also run a test on your home wifi network to see if there’s anything you can do to get it up and running again.

How can I contact Sky and will I be compensated?

If you’re having problems with your internet, calls or cell service, you may be eligible for compensation.

Internet companies usually pay £8 for every day that phone and broadband service is not repaired after two days of no service.

Automatic offsets were halted at the beginning of the pandemic but since then it has mostly resumed.

In rare cases, your provider may not be able to automatically pay you – for example, if an incident requires you to visit your home and the customer is self-isolating.

In that case, you will not be charged for a service you did not receive.

BROADBAND options can vary greatly by provider, and you can save money by shopping around.

If you are a mobile customer and you experience a lack of service, depending on the situation, you may be eligible for a refund or an account credit.

If you are without service for an extended period of time, you have the right to leave without incurring a fee.

When did Sky Broadband stop working?

  • On September 1 and 2, Sky customers experienced broadband issues.
  • Sky Broadband issues were widely reported on August 20 and 22, with many having lunchtime problems with their internet.
  • Thousands of Sky customers have reported lose their broadband connection on August 4, according to Downdetector.
  • July 28 also saw connectivity issues for hundreds of people working from home.
  • Service issues were also found on January 7, with hundreds of customers reporting problems with their broadband. According to outage tracking company Downdetector, nearly 800 people have struggled to get online.
  • Previously, Sky users said they were having problems on July 21, 2020, in the Yorkshire and Humber regions.
  • Sky Broadband also went down in june Last year, about 10,000 customers in South East London did not have internet.

How to reset Sky Broadband router?

You may want to try restarting your Sky broadband router to see if that fixes your internet problems.

To do this, unplug the router from the mains plug, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

There is no guarantee that this will fix any broadband problems.

Can I get a free Wifi extender from Sky?

If you’re having trouble connecting to Sky broadband in all rooms of your house, you should ask about a booster.

You may be entitled to a free booster, but only if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have added Sky Broadband Boost to your internet plan. This costs an extra £5 a month.
  • You don’t get minimum 3Mbps WiFi in every room.
  • An engineer cannot fix your problem.
