Irina Shayk is accused of supporting Putin in an Instagram post

Russian supermodel Irina Shayk is accused of supporting Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine in a cryptic Instagram post featuring the “Z” symbol on Russian tanks and military vehicles.

The 36-year-old brunette bombshell – who was in a long-term relationship with Grammy winner Bradley Cooper before the couple split in 2019 – posted an Instagram Story on Wednesday that featured a traditional Russian Olivier salad along with the phrase “Russianzz on [Wednesday].”

But the odd spelling of “Russians” with a “z” quickly sparked outrage from critics online, who saw her post as support for the ongoing war.

“Irina Shayk – world-famous model from Russia who has recently worked for Beyonce, Jean Paul Gaultier, Burberry and others – posted a strange cryptic story on Instagram with the word ‘Russianzz’,” said Kyiv-based journalist Maria Romanenko tweeted. “I really hope that when Russia uses Z to kill Ukrainians, these brands will reconsider working with her.”

Others accused Shayk, who shares a 5-year-old daughter with Cooper, of not being “ashamed to support fascists” with the mysterious post.

The mysterious content was no longer visible on Shayk's Instagram profile as of Friday morning. Her last post, from a week earlier, was inundated by critics who slammed her for using the reference

“We hope that every brand that works with her will reconsider their partnership,” another tweet read.

The mysterious content was no longer visible on Shayk’s Instagram profile as of Friday morning. Her last post, from a week earlier, was inundated by critics who slammed her for using the reference “Russianzz.”

“Shame on you,” was one reply.

“If you are so proud of your terrorist country, Russia, then go and live there,” countered another critic. “Then why do you live in his enemy’s country? Disgusting.”

Several commenters posted #RussiaTerroristState in response, while others said they plan to boycott all Shayk-related products.

“I will never touch brands you promote and none of my friends will,” read another reply. “We should boycott any company that works with this monster.”

Shayk, who previously posted
Shayk, who previously posted “no to war” in February while saying she plans to donate to Red Cross officials in Ukraine, has not publicly commented on the controversy.

Shayk, who previously posted “no to war” in February and promised to donate to Red Cross officials in Ukraine, has not publicly commented on the online backlash.

Others noted that the model and actress “casually” took the post when a Russian-launched missile killed 23 people, including three children, in Vinnytsia, Ukraine.

“Imagine living in the US and posting Nazi bullsh-t,” read another tweet. “Oh, Irina Shayk doesn’t have to imagine that.”

Shayk dated Cooper, 47, from 2015 to 2019. Their daughter Lea De Seine was born on March 21, 2017 in Los Angeles.

Before Cooper, the Russian beauty dated Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, for five years. Ronaldo ended their relationship and announced their split in early 2015.
