So where does the infamous food star live? Here’s everything you need to know about Alton Brown’s home with a ‘dingy’ feel to it.
Does Alton Brown live in Marietta, Georgia? Where is he originally from?
Alton Brown was born in Los Angeles, California but his parents were from northern Georgia. Now he resides in Marietta, Georgia.
“I’ve lived here from time to time since the early 1990s,” he says The bitter southerner. “I’ve gone away, but I’ve always come back.”
As for his parents, he explained that they were both from Cornelia. “They got married and went to LA for their honeymoon and stayed. And had me,” he told the publication. “My dad always wanted a radio station and he had an opportunity to buy a radio station in Cleveland (Georgia) in the late ’60s and so they pulled us out. I went from elementary school in North Hollywood, California to a school where the kids were barefoot.”
After his father died and his mother remarried, Brown added that they moved to Lithonia, Georgia. “All I know is that I went positive … and I’m going to use that word … the shabbiest public education there was at the time,” he said.

While Alton Brown has mixed feelings about growing up in Georgia, he’s stuck there. He currently lives in a loft in Marietta.
Corresponding Atlanta Magazine, Elizabeth Ingram designed the loft she and Brown now share since they married in 2018 after she designed the space. “He’s a dramatic person and likes dramatic things,” she explained. “I also like a more masculine look.”
The magazine notes that Alton Brown’s home includes black custom bookshelves by local furniture maker Subeau, navy blue floors, industrial light fixtures, and vintage finds to create the “dramatic” vibe. The couple have Polaroid photos and bits and pieces from their travels on their walls. Brown also has a deep blue velvet couch and two walnut sheathed swivel chairs from Ingram’s personal furniture collection. The custom bookshelves line the walls, filled with books, albums, and other personal trinkets.
“We like it a little dingy, worn…worn,” Brown noted. “None of us trust anything new that hasn’t survived a street fight.”
The house contains a bedroom for Brown’s daughter, Zooey. Your room features a brick wall with large windows, pink curtains and a matching bedspread.
Photos from another bedroom (apparently by Brown and Ingram) show the black bed frame and white linens. Even large plants are scattered throughout the house.
One of the most unique aspects of Alton Brown’s home is its kitchen. The couple turned old furniture into a wooden island and hung the pots on the wall. They also have an extensive coffee corner with coffee and espresso machines. “The kitchen is more of a hobby corner and is made out of all my favorite materials: wood, stone, steel,” Alton told Atlanta.
