A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life after his SUV overturned in Queens, police said.
The driver was speeding east on the Belt Parkway at about 12:30 a.m. when he lost control of the steering wheel near the Lefferts Boulevard exit, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
A person at the scene said the driver lost control of the SUV on the eastbound Nassau Expressway. The vehicle overturned and landed in the east lane of the Belt Parkway.
The two freeways are separated by a 50-foot green strip.
The driver was taken to the Jamaica hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a broken neck and severe body trauma, according to the NYPD and first responders.
