Take a peek inside this overgrown and abandoned mansion haunted by a dark secret.
The stunning Uniontown, Alabama property looks like an ideal family home from the outside, but it’s actually the scene of a grisly murder that went unsolved for nearly a decade.
A brave urban explorer made an eerie trip to the Hardie Coleman home, better known as the Allan Lucy Murder House, to inspect the run-down apartment.
It got its chilling middle name after the body of a teenager who went missing in 1985 was tragically discovered there.
The late Allan Lucy had lived in the house with his adoptive parents, Philip and Margaret Lucy, before they claimed he had fled to Florida to be with his friends.
But he was actually buried in a Disney blanket under the property’s grand porch after Phillip brutally killed him.
The truth behind the horrific story was only revealed when the couple sold their home and the new owner began renovating it.
Nine years later, in 1994, a construction worker staggeringly discovered Allan’s remains after inspecting the home’s foundations.
The grim discovery inevitably caused the once magnificent 1918 mansion to collapse in the real estate market before it rotted.
Now urban researcher David Bulit, who runs Abandoned Alabama, has revisited the site to take a peek inside the derelict home.
He explained: “Ironically, Allan’s adoptive parents were arrested just a week before the remains were discovered on arson charges related to the fire that damaged the home.
“Police believed they set the house on fire to claim the $119,000 insurance policy that had been taken out just a month earlier.
“While the couple was in custody, authorities conducted a thorough investigation of the property and questioned family members before charging Philip Lucy with the murder.”
Allan’s adoptive father was later found guilty in 1997 and hanged himself with his bed sheets in his jail cell after a failed appeal verdict in 2001.
His wife Margaret was implicated in the murder but was allowed to return home to look after their other children before divorcing Philip and dying of cancer in 1998.
Left to rot
An extraordinary image of their former family home shows the front of the house where Allan’s body was discovered, decayed and boarded up.
Another of the images shows the abandoned living room, with only rays of light illuminating the whitewashed patches throughout the lounge.
More snaps show the once manicured greenery and trees have overtaken the land, which only adds to its unfortunate appearance.
In some rooms there are building materials lying around that have fallen into disrepair after years of neglect.
No trace was left of the family, only the basic furnishings of each room have been preserved.
