Immokalee man arrested for DUI in Collier County after driving car down canal

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – An Immokalee man was arrested on a DUI charge after he steered his vehicle down a canal in Collier County.
Juan Antonio Morales Gomez, 36, crashed his car into a canal along Camp Keais Road. after driving past the curb and some bushes, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
The incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday.
According to reports, Morales Gomez was driving at about 50 mph and started turning into oncoming traffic. Witnesses said Morales Gomez then over-repaired and reversed across two lanes into an unpaved section next to the road and into the canal.
Morales Gomez was finally able to get out of the flooded car. Morales Gomez was arrested shortly after the CCSO deputies arrived.
According to reports, Morales Gomez has also been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
