‘I’m tired of being ugly’

SCORPION kicks Goalkeeper Rene Higuita has undergone plastic surgery on LIVE TV after being voted the ugliest icon in Colombia.

Higuita, 55, has built a reputation with his sweeping goalkeeping style that brings a flair to the goalkeeping position – he has even scored 41 goals in his career.

But he is most famous for inventing the scorpion kick and in 1995 England’s Jamie Redknapp used the technique to clear the ball.

That elevated him to iconic status in Colombia but ten years later Higuita’s career went downhill.

He retired after failing a drug test and took the bold step of having surgery on the reality TV show Cambio Extremo in 2005.

At the time the holder commented: “I’m tired of ugly René, I want to be handsome René.”

And to transform her body, Higuita had nose surgery, silicon chin implants, skin removal, eyelid skin surgery, ‘powerful’ liposuction and a tummy tuck.

A month after the procedure was completed, Higuita declared: “I am physically perfect”.

Today, ‘El Loco’ still wears the long curly hairstyle that has become a trademark throughout his career.

And sometimes Higuita still do his scorpion kick side trick with you.
