HOW you store your food has a massive impact on how long it stays fresh.
If you find yourself loading your cart with groceries and having to throw most of it away before you have a chance to eat it, fear not.
Organization pro Caroline Solomon has some great storage hacks that can save you money.
The first tip from the pro is to never keep the milk carton in the fridge door.
Instead, keep it on a top or middle shelf where it’s cooler. The colder temperature keeps it from going bad quickly.
Nuts and seeds that come in plastic bags should be transferred to airtight containers.

You should also keep them in the fridge and not in cupboards if you also want to extend the life of the snacks.
Get your cheese out of the plastic bags it comes in and wrap it in parchment paper.
Caroline says this trick allows it to breathe and prevents mold growth, meaning you can stack it on your plate for much longer.
If you’re a fan of fresh fruit, make sure you line a glass container with paper towels to absorb moisture and prevent mold growth.
Anyone who likes to grab toast in the morning but doesn’t want to wait until the butter is ready to spread has a tip from the organization professional for this too.
Caroline says if you store your butter at room temperature, salted will last longer than unsalted, so switch if you haven’t already.

You should store ginger in an airtight bag in your fridge drawer so it stays fresher for much longer too.
Viewers of the savings tips loved how easy they were.
“Nothing is worse than expensive cheese that molds before it’s gone. I’ll try the parchment paper!”
A second commented: “My fruit lasts so much longer in the jar, I was blown away!”
