I’m a real estate agent and I had the strangest experience – my client was renovating the property and found a CEMETERY

Real estate agent Lauren Matera has shared the most shocking experience she’s had while working.

She said her client renovated a house and discovered an entire graveyard in the backyard – but she claimed that wasn’t the worst part of the story.

“A few years ago my husband and I listed a house and worked with an investor who was flipping a house and we helped them choose all the finishes in the house and everything looked great,” Lauren said at the beginning of the Video she posted online.

She added that the house was bought unseen on site and she was allowed to be there when the kitchen countertops were installed and when the gardening began.

Then she recalled the moment she saw the landscapers make the shocking discovery.

“As we pulled out of the driveway I looked over my shoulder as they mowed the lawn and pulled weeds and cleared anything that was about waist high just to reveal 30 historic headstones.

“The property used to be church property, so it became part of my job to research the zoning requirements for preserving a cemetery in a rural area,” she noted.

She ended her story by revealing what she thought was the “worst” part of the whole situation: The latest grave was added in 2011.

In the video’s caption, Lauren said she later learned that the home and surrounding land “was once a large community and the graveyard was behind the church building.”

She noted that the oldest tombstones date from the early 20th century.

She also wrote in the video’s comments section that all of the tombstones are “protected and left in place.”

She added that she and her husband made sure every headstone was given full respect and did their best to identify the unnamed headstones.

Some may be shocked to learn that Lauren is far from the first person to make such a discovery about a home they were involved with.

For example, knowingly, a couple from Massachusetts bought a funeral home to renovate and live inbut what they didn’t know was that it used to be a hospital dating back to 1904.

However, they said they love their home’s spooky history and agree it adds to its unique charm.
