A mother of seven covered in tattoos from head to toe says people stop and stare at her all the time – but she loves the way she looks.
Every inch of Melissa Sloan’s face is inked with roses, hearts and even an English flag, but the 45-year-old insists: “I like who I am.”
Melissa got them first tattoo about 20 years ago and she has so many now that she can’t keep track of them.
But she gets the most attention thanks to her fully inked face.
Parents at school often point and whisper at her, and she is inundated with nasty comments online.
People regularly tell her she looks like “something from another universe,” while others ask, “Why are you doing this to yourself?”
But luckily, the full-time mother of her seven kids can push the haters aside.
Melissa, who was born in Knighton on the PowysShropshire Border said: “People stop and stare and the hate is incredible.
“But I am me and I like who I am.
“My mother always said she was proud of me and encouraged me to do what I love.
“You only live once. Do what you want.”
Melissa, originally from Kidderminster, Worcestershiresaid her most-frequently asked question is what she will do as she gets older and her inked skin begins to sag.
But her answer is simple: “It’s going to be entertaining.”
And their children “disregard” the body art and tell their schoolmates not to either.
After getting her first few done professionally, Melissa now has her partner tattoo her at home about twice a week.
“I started in my 20s and then it just grew and grew and grew,” she said.
“I’m addicted to it now, and now I get a new one once or twice a week.
“I couldn’t count how many I have.”
And though she appears to be covered, Melissa insists she still has plenty of skin to tattoo – and she’ll keep going until every part of her body is inked.
“I will continue as long as I live,” she said.
