Now, Martina, 45, is desperate to update her outfit and come back dating scene.

She said: “After the breakup, I just didn’t have the energy and will to get dressed. I hate the thought that I’ve lost my fashion and now look sloppy.”

Martina believes that spending too much time together is the cause of the breakdown in marriage.

She said: “When we got married in August 2013, I thought we would get nine out of five jobs done so we could spend time together.

“But he chose to work with 16-hour shifts so we barely saw each other. He never seemed to be here.

“I finally packed up and left last April and our divorce will be finalized next month.

“With my husband too exhausted to spend time with me, I never had a need to dress, let alone wear fashion.

“I mostly live in sweatshirts and sweatpants. I also put on a weighted stone”.

Martina, from Cambridgecurrently looking to dive in and find a new partner.

She said: “I want to be able to have the confidence to date and find love again, but I find the idea very scary. I don’t know what etiquette is and I certainly don’t know how to dress for a date.

“So far, I have been thinking about joining clubs, such as the salsa club, and I have signed up for a few dating apps to try the water but I am still not confident enough to swipe right .

“I have a pretty big personality but my clothes don’t always reflect that.

“I’d love to be able to wear pencil skirts and leather trousers, but I’ve never had the confidence to try them on.”

Now, with a makeover by the amazing Fashion Director Tracey Lea Sayer in our Stylist Challenge series, Martina has turned a corner.

Her new look is perfect to help give her the confidence she needs to start dating.

“Tracey and the team were very patient and professional,” she said. One of the first things Tracey did was calculate my size.

After the breakup, I didn’t have the energy or the will to get dressed. I hate the thought that I’ve lost my fashion and now look sloppy.

“I always knew I was a size 12, and so did Tracey.

“She tried on me a size 14, and they fit but were a bit too loose. We realize that 12 is perfect.

“Tracey says a lot of women wear clothes that are too big or too small because they don’t know what size they are and it makes a real difference when you wear it right.

“She also convinced me to try lighter colors, which I had always avoided because I didn’t think they were right for me.”

Martina’s favorite among the looks she’s tried on is Lindex’s blue dress.

“It looks and feels really expensive and also grown up,” she said.

“The red dress is something I never thought I would try on let alone buy, because it looks so cute, girly and bright – that’s not me at all.

“But when I put it on, I immediately felt confident and sexy.

“One of the first things I do after I take a photo is go through the drawers and get rid of some messy old clothes.

“Now I also embrace the vibrant colors instead of avoiding them. I feel more confident about my appearance and even meeting Mr Right.

“I am talking to a few people now and hopefully I will be asked soon. When they do, I will definitely wear this red dress. “
