They claimed the paintwork, which cost him £10,000, was “absolutely awful” and risked inflicting “depression” on residents.

One lamented: “It’s broken another building will be painted gray – it was a nice lemon [colour before] glowing pink in the sunset and looking so pretty against the blue sky.”

Others claimed they would paint theirs Houses “S*** Brown” in protest and an angry local even taped an angry note to Andy’s window.

The letter, which was signed with a sad emoji, read: “NO OTHER BUILDING TURNS GREY!! It’s the sea, not an industrial area.”

Andy was annoyed by the note and decided to take revenge on the nosy neighbors.

He told The Sun: “I couldn’t believe people had such strong opinions.

“One person even commented that I had to ‘be rich and wear a top hat’ to have chosen grey.

“My wife told me to get revenge by painting purple spots over everything, so I was like, ‘What the hell!'”

At 7am the next morning, Andy went to his local B&Q and within three hours the building was covered in purple stains.

Many in town have since also seen the funny side, branding him “a legend” and calling his act “the finest revenge.”

Others compared his appearance to Mister Blobbythe pink mascot with the yellow dot from the nineties tv show Noel’s house party.

Another quipped, “I thought those meds ran out in the ’70s.”

Andy’s building, which houses his plumbing and heating business and two rented apartments, is now a landmark in the region.

He said: “It’s crazy. People bring their kids down to see them. I let people drive by and took photos.

“When I entered the pub after work, I was greeted with applause.”

Not only locals appreciate Andy’s cheeky comeback – social media users as far away as America have also applauded him.

One wrote: “Ah yeah… looks like Andy decided to paint him a nice pattern [of] ‘Mind your own damn business’ – well played Andy, I bet they’ll love it.”

A second added: “One of my favorite phrases in the English language is ‘malicious compliance’.”

Andy claims there are “no bad feelings” between him and his neighbors or the local who originally snubbed him online and has since apologized.

He added, “I think it would have been nicer if she just talked to my face instead.”

However, the misshapen purple spots and smiling and scowling faces probably won’t stay, revealed Andy.

He said, “I’m too conformist. I’m afraid it’s getting greyed out.”
