MCDONALD’S employees are revealing their secrets to getting the best out of your fast food order.
With everything from how to buy the freshest fries to bargain Big Mac’s, here are seven tips to help you save money and make the most of your dinner…
In an AskReddit thread, McDonald’s employees were asked to reveal secrets they learned on the job, telling users how to get the most out of their meals and the best time of day to order.
1. Don’t order breakfast after 11 o’clock and order Filet-O-Fish at lunch
One worker said that if you want the freshest breakfast, don’t bother after 10:30. They say: “Never take the breakfast menu after 10:30 or 11 o’clock.
Then we started the lunch menu, so if you, for example, had an egg sausage muffin at noon, the muffin, sausage, and egg would be in the cupboard. reheated in… an hour and a half.
We just threw the breakfast items last at 2 o’clock, when we stopped serving breakfast items altogether. “
While another user said that Filet-O-Fish is best enjoyed at lunchtime: “If you’re the weirdo who goes to McDonald’s for a Filet-O-Fish, go at lunchtime.
“Despite the rules for throwing that crap away xx minutes after cooking, they’re frequently served late at night.”
2. If you want real cracked eggs, avoid sandwiches advertised as scrambled or scrambled eggs.
One former worker told Reddit: “The round egg sandwich uses real, cracked eggs.
The goods packed in the freezer or refrigerator are folded and messy. “
Another user suggested ordering your Big Breakfast with sun-baked eggs for the freshest eggs
They say: “The hearty breakfast is usually made with scrambled eggs, you can ask them to dry in the sun.
“The eggs are real. McDonald’s is the biggest buyer of chicken and eggs in the world.”
3. You can get many free cookies through the app.
One user told of a small glitch in the McDonald’s app that could get you unlimited free cookies.
They say: “There is a ‘deal’ section and it usually has a coupon for a free cookie or free apple pie with any order. Add that to your order and you’ll get it. Free biscuits.
“Then the next time you order from the app, just reorder your last meal (you can add/remove whatever you want) but the free cookie will still be there.
“The problem is you can add another free cookie from the deals section and now you have two free cookies.
“Obviously there’s no limit to this. Now I get 5 free cookies with every order.”
4. Like at In-N-Out Burger, you can get a grilled cheese.
Redditors have been told how some employees make their own creations while at work, but they told the public not to bother ordering them as they won’t be able to sell them.
However, one worker discovered that they could make and sell grilled cheese in some McDonald’s franchises.
They said, “You can ask for grilled cheese. We put the cheese between two inverted pies and bake it.”
5. One custom creation you MAY ask for is the McFlurry apple pie.
“The custom works are the best part of working there,” says one former worker, even if the public can’t enjoy them.
But one you can enjoy is the Apple Pie McFlurry: “You can ask them to throw an apple pie at McFlurry so you now have PieMcflurry.”
6. You can buy a cheaper Big Mac by ordering a double cheese sandwich with lettuce and Big Mac sauce.
One trick to getting a bargain on a meal is to order your double cheeseburger with everything above.
One person wrote: “Buy a cheaper burger” dressed as a Mac “to save money on a Big Mac”.
One user replied: “Order a McDouble and have them put everything on it including the special sauce and you basically have a Big Mac minus the bread in the middle (to be honest, I’ve never seen a need) for more than half the price.”
Another commented: “The big mac is just a double cheese sandwich with 1000 island sauce, lettuce and an extra piece of bread.
“If you order a large extra pair of lettuce and mac sauce, you’ll get the same thing with less bread and for less.”
7. Only ask for fresh fries
You may have heard of the “secret” where when you want fresh fries you ask for the fries without salt so they have to be made on the spot.
However, the staff say you can order fresh fries: “I always think it’s hilarious that people think they’d be so clever by ordering fries without salt while you can literally just ask for fresh fries.”
The old staff also say you can order anything fresh and it’s worth the wait.
They wrote: “As a former employee, I know that you can ask for anything you want new.
“For anyone reading this – when it’s late or off-peak at McDonald’s, order your fresh take.
“The maximum cooking time is 5 or 6 minutes for nuggets, 4 minutes for any beef. BE TRUE, TRUST ME.”
Another user also revealed that you can tell if the oil is fresh depending on the color of your fries:
They said: “If the fries are yellow/brown, the oil has not been altered for a long time.
“If they’re very pale white/yellow, they’re made with fresh oil.”
