I thought I was going to die from a ‘Walking Dead’ injury

Norman Reedus shocked fans, cast and crew alike when he suffered a concussion on the set of The Walking Dead last March.

While it was initially reported as a simple head injury and he would soon recover, the accident turned out to be more traumatic than people initially believed, Reedus revealed.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 53-year-old actor recalled that the injury was “horrific” and “the whole ordeal was terrifying for me personally.”

“I thought I was going to die,” said the Boondock Saints actor. “It was very serious. It was scary. I’ve been hit in the face and head a million times. I went through car windows, but this one rang.”

After the concussion, Reedus – who plays Daryl Dixon – underwent multiple tests to ensure his health.

“I had a neurologist. I had all sorts of s–t,” he explained. “I failed the light test. I had a security guard in the driveway just in case. I held on to the walls and walked through the rooms. It was crazy.”

Just weeks after the incident, news broke that Reedus was recovering well and would be back on the set of the AMC series to wrap up filming for the eleventh and final season.

The tragedy caused filming to be delayed by a few weeks and the ‘Gossip’ actor said he feels complicit in what happened.

“You’ve been shooting for over a year and now we have to postpone part of the shooting because I’m in bed,” said the father of two. “So the guilt that I’m not at work and people are like, ‘Are we going to go on for a week? Are we going over two weeks?’ – that bothered me.”

The second half of The Walking Dead’s final season will premiere on AMC on October 2nd. The series finale will wrap up the show on November 20th.
